Our Story

We believe education writing deserves better.

Founded in 2017 by a small group of former teachers and reporters, Education Brook exists to cover education the way the best magazines cover culture — with patience, skepticism, and craft.

"Every classroom decision is a small bet on what a child will become. We think those bets deserve careful reporting — not hot takes."

How We Got Here

A short editorial history

2017

Three former teachers start a newsletter

What began as a Sunday-night email to 200 colleagues became the seed of Education Brook's editorial voice: skeptical, specific, unhurried.

2020

Full-time reporting begins

Remote learning coverage during the pandemic brought the publication's first full-time reporting staff and its first international readership.

2023

The Weekly Brook newsletter passes 50,000 readers

A single weekly email, one essay and three links, becomes the publication's core product — still true today.

2026

Nine years, one editorial standard

Same standard as issue one: no story runs unless it would survive a skeptical teacher reading it in the staff room.

"The only education publication I've kept in my inbox for five straight years."
